2003 x350 Vibration
Hi - I wonder if anyone else has had this issue:
I have a 2003 X350 with 86000kms on the clock - at 80kms an hour and above I feel significant vibration.
I've had the tyres replaced, wheels aligned, driveshafts replaced, propshaft balanced (and rotated) and the differential swapped out with a spare by my local garage.
The transmission oil etc was all checked and a transmission specialist has said that this is not at fault.
Unfortunately the vibrations still remains.
Does anyone have any ideas?
Pulling my hair out - as is the mechanic!
Cheers!

Hello, and welcome to the forum.
I had a vibration on my Cadillac and it turned out to be a cracked engine mount. With my other cars in the past any vibration was fixed by alignment and new tires, but you've already tried those solutions. Perhaps someone else on here will have a better suggestion for you, but just wanted to suggest checking the engine mounts.

I have a similar vibration that starts around 50mph and does not change with engine RPM. When I select lower gears the vibration doesn't change. I put new tires had them balanced 2 and had them road force balanced. But the vibration is still there.
What size are your wheels? What tires did you buy? I have the 20" sepang wheels and bought some Kumo tire for them. The Kumos were pretty cheap so maybe that has to do with the vibration or maybe its the combination of them with the 20" wheels being too sensitive to road bumps.
Does anybody else have a bumpy ride with 20" wheels?

1. Has it been like this all the time you've owned the car ?
2. What size wheels ?
3. Have the wheels been checked for damage ?
4. Has the suspension been checked-out for wear
5. What model X350 ? Sport springs tend to amplify suspension faults.
Your mileage is not great, (86k kms = 53k miles), so I would not expect a huge amount of wear in the suspension, but there will be some. Short life parts are: -
- lower air spring mounts
- lower rear wishbone bushes
I had 20" Sepangs on purchase but swapped for 18" and it made the car a lot better.
