Default 2004 Jaguar XJ8 Shimmy

I just purchased a 2004 XJ8 with 61,000 mile on it. Car is beautiful!

I noticed after I bought it that when I drive on uneven pavement of hit a bumps on the freeway...move obvious at higher speeds, there I kind of get a shimmy/vibration in the wheel. I can even feel it in the seat of my pants.

I brought it to the dealership they at first didn't feel anything. However, then when we drove another 04 they had on the lot and it didn't do the same thing. They thought it might be the tires. So Yesterday they swapped my wheels and tires with the other car. At first I thought it helped but the problem is still there.

I called and left a message and want to bring it back.

I heard that these cars have the bushings and control arms go bad would that cause what I am talking about?

Any ideas??

I found the air pressure on my 04 XJR was low on both front tires. Took it into NTB to have them correct the pressure, and went ahead and balanced and rotated the tires, and my problem went away. Should be a quick way to check if that could be the issue. If this is too obvious, I apologize.

I too had a similar problem (vibration at around 60-70 mph) that I went away after a simple wheel balance and rotation.

Sometimes it's the simple things...

Was that under a select edition warranty or out of pocket, and if so, what was the cost...

Yes it was and it didn't cost me anything. I still think there is a slight shimmy but beggars can't be chosers.
I have to realize that I am driving a $65,000 dollar car with 61K miles on it that I pad $13,000 for. What a wonderful world we live in!!
