I've replaced three of our coils so far and keep two spares in the trunk.

Thats good to know Don as I am thinking of replacing mine at 106,000 as I suspect every once in a while I get a misfire under load.

I'm having this EXACT same issue. But the only code I've gotten is the p1643. Problems getting into gear in the mornings.

My car was giving a p1643 some of the time. I would suggest replacing the plugs if it has not been done lately and checking the coils. My car had a bad spark plug and a bad coil. After those were fixed no more transmission problems. What a relief, I though I was going to drive my car to the junkyard. They quoted me a transmission price from Jaguar of $14,000 more than I had paid for the car.
