Default 2004 XJ Alignment Specs Needed

I have been having FR inside wear issues with my 04 XJR for two sets of tires. Had the dealer do the alignment last year (twice) and still have issues. I went to an independent shop, and they came up with a different set of specs from three different sources. I noticed that a thread for the S type showed a TSB changing toe to +.

Does anyone have the TSB for revised alignment specifications on the XJ. I just replaced tires and set to -.06 toe. I am seeing slight feathering already at 500mi. Both sides wear the same.

I'd be interested in the answer to this as well. I took the 04 XJ8 for the 50k service and the dealer told me I needed 4-wheel alignment as I had feathring on the front tires (which only had 5k miles on them). I also noticed a big of tire noise at low speed, which seems to have gone away. If there is a TSB for this I'd like to know whether it was properly applied....

My car had a dealership alignment too in October of 2008, and i don't think they did a good job either (Millenium Motorcars - Plano, TX). Feathering on inside of passenger front tire. I would like to get ahold of this information so we can do a correct 4-wheel alignment.

I can only provide what is in the 9/2003 jaguar specification document, however, it may not be current. I noticed that my toe ranges on my 03 XK8 provided by the dealer are also different than this particular document shows. Dealer may very well 'adapt' different measurements as needed, however, others may still use the published specs. I'm still trying to nail down the perfect toe on mine...inner tire feathering has been killing my tire longevity.

Look at the difference compared to the spec document on mine.

Below is dealer alignment sheet.

those specs are whats recommended, just like the orignal Stype specs. I along with a few other techs back in the early days of the Stype pushed Jaguar to examine the specs since even with the car set correctly and coming back correct. The tires were wearing the insides out and the tires tell you the specs are not correct. So they finally changed the specs, although I still see alot of shops using the old specs that are years out of date. So the 04^ XJ8 is much the same. but there is another issue working here. If you look at how Merecedes tells the tech to set up for an alignment. it says to "install pressor bar" between the inside of the front tires. What this does is to take out deflection in the suspension and 3 cars having the same year. miles etc can all exhibit different amounts of deflection. And this shows what your tires are doing going down the road. The road tries to push out(toe out) the front tires. I have seen this in many cases were you set up even in the green, push out with my arms evenly to simulate a pressor bar and what the road does. And the tires toe out into the red, its no wonder the tires wear the inside or feather edge. So the fix is to do an alignment once the front toe is set(the last setting to do) and then push out on the front tires. if it moves past the middle of the spec range or even goes into the red. reset for more toe in until it goes into the middle, and yes sometimes this even meens on the rack I am going to set it too far toed in into the red. But my alignments wear tires evenly cause I look at what the tires do, not what the machine tells you. Its just a tool, not the end all. I dont ask a wrench how to fix a car, its a tool to use and you have to know what it can a cant do.The tires tell allot, and then you look at what the before setting are at and ask why and adjust accordingly. Afterall I have never seen anyone driving their cars to work on an alignment rack, you have to simulate what the road does to the suspension or at least know how to comphensate for what it does
