2004 Xj8 86000 miles - short & abrupt, noise from front wheel?

I hope someone can help me - the wife has a 04 XJ8 with 86000 miles on it. Last week, her car started developing an abrupt, noise coming from what appears to be the front passenger side wheel. The noise always comes on about 300-500 yards after the car has started driving, goes for about 2 seconds and does not make anymore noise. The noise sounds like a grind type noise.
This noise seems to come on when the car is started cold. It does not make this noise while driving.
We took it to our local Jag guy and he did not see anything wrong with it. Unfortunately this car is out of warranty and we're on our own.
Has anyone come across this issue or seen a thread on this issue?
No, there is no error message from the car's computer.
Any help, input or direction would be greatly appreciated.
Great forum! I look forward to reading a lot of threads in this forums.
Oh, my username is named after my recent purchase of a 2006 Black L-VDP with the 19" chromies. Cant post nuthin till I get out of this n00b status

Thanks for the suggestion JagMaster, I tried it and it does not make the noise. Popped the bonnet and examined the hinges and they appear fine.
More about the Sound: If you heard it, it sounds like a bad grinding noise that goes for about 2-3 seconds right after the car has started cold and driven for about 300-500 yards.
Applying brakes while that noise is on does not stop it nor does it reduce the noise when it is happening.
Once the sound comes on, that's it, there is no more grinding noise/sound afterward for the rest of the trip.
It's a mystery. I tried to catch the sound on video but the mic on the pocket video s*cks. I'll post something up when I can get something.
