My wifes 04 XJ8 will crank but wont fire. I check the fuel rail schrader valve and have no fuel pressure. Checked all fuses they check out ok. I previously had a 1338 DTC. I did a hard reset and everything was working fine. She hasn't driven the car in about a week and then went out to start it and no go. Tried to pull codes again and it tests good no DTC's. I do not know where the fuel pump driver module is or the fuel pump relay to check those out. I need to know how to test this system as I have no manual to guide me and am just going on general knowledge on how most systems work. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Fuel pump relay is R8 in the rear (boot ) fuse box.
This is a "non-serviceable PCB relay" not the plug in type, there is also a diode in the circuit, location unknown but probably the same location.
Fuse is F33 20amp
The circuit diagram only shows one pump but I believe there are two.
Search the internet for Jaguar 2004MY Electrical Guide-it's available.
Recently my son's Volkswagen Transporter would not start-no fuel pressure and I dismantled the faulty pump.
The pump itself (meshing gears type) was jammed with a small piece of copper which I showed could only have come from the the pump itself and not contamination from the petrol.
I am sure that elecrically the pump was fine It was a VDO (German I think)
Fuel pumps these days are fully immersed in the fuel. Good luck

I had a similar problem with my 2005 XJ8 L. Problem was a defective fuel inertia shut off switch. This is a known issue with the cars. You may be able to simply reset the switch manually and then install a new switch later. The switch is located somewhere near the hood release I believe (I had my mechanic change the switch.

There are a lot of big files over in the General Tech help section. This link will let you download the shop manual. It says that it is for the years 2005 on, but there isn't much difference between 2004 and 2005's.

Look in the "General Jaguar Documents" file.
