Some codes are immediate. Most only take 2 warm-ups. If unhappy enough (very rare) no codes flag because it can't figure what is OK & what isn't, but this is rare.

Default The saga goes on....

So I had the throttle body replaced, as well as the inertia switch, air filter, and I did the plugs myself. I have not done the coil packs, as all the plugs looked about the same, with no obvious bad ones. The rough starting went away, but the abs and DSC fault have been intermittent after traveling .009 miles from the shop after the throttle body and inertia switch replacement.

For the last three weeks or so the ABS and DSC faults have been nearly constant, accompanied by a check engine light. When the ABS light would shut off, only right after starting the car, all the lights would stay off. Two days ago, the gearbox fault light came back and the transmission has stayed in limp mode for two days. I get the following codes:

C1165
P0701
U3BFF
P2000

I am really getting frustrated.... Any help is much appreciated.

C1126 is the RH rear speed sensor. A damaged, or just unplugged, sensor can account for all of your ABS and DSC problems.

P0701 is a Trans limp mode, caused by a DSC fault. Again, the RH rear sensor could be causing this too.

P2000, I don't show this under the codes I have right now, but I seem to remember that it is just the ECU self test status...and nothing to be concerned about.

U3BFF...? This is not a DTC code that I can find. Are you certain this is correct?

Anyway, I would venture a guess that all your issues stem from the RH rear wheel speed sensor. And...I'd find a new mechanic. There is no way most of his recommendations have anything to do with your problem.

Edit....I just googled U3BFF, and Jag radio codes popped up. It says if you have disconnected the battery you may need the radio code. Don't know if that's it, but you did disconnect the battery...

Thanks cjd. I just dropped the car off at a very interesting shop. Mostly Jaguar, right around the corner from my office. The guy worked at the local dealer for years, then opened his own shop, in an old warehouse where he has a really cool collection of cars. He said this car is 'new,' for him, as he mostly works on cars up to 2000 or so, but he thought the same things you do. Going up on the rack to check all the connections and wires and to check the RR sensor. We have had a brutal winter, and this is my every day driver.....

Default So....

I got the car back yesterday, and now I know why I have the ABS/DSC problem. Rear sensor is bad on the right. Moved it to the left, and the code changed to the left. I am hoping that when that part comes in and is installed, it will solve the check engine and the transmission limp mode. The check engine light only comes on in conjunction with the ABS light. I am most worried about the Transmission. If this does not solve it, any suggestions on what to do next, based on the P0701? Thanks for the input......

I think that will fix your 0701 code...or rather 0702, since you swapped it.

Default Update

So after a long winter of no abs/dsc, ALL codes, even the air ride fault, are gone after replacing the rear wheel speed sensor! I cannot believe it, but there you have it! Thanks especially to cjd. Great forum.

Hi Vince, I stumbled across this thread today and noticed you mentioned that there was a mechanic "around the corner"... I'm from Michigan as well and I'm curious if you would be willing to share the name of his shop or contact info? Its next to impossible to find an independent mech that is a "jag guy" here in the Ann Arbor area. I'd be willing to travel for chance at finding someone trustworthy. Thanks.
