I recently had my 2004 XJ8 in for service, the said they recommended that I Replace right rear sway-bar link (Found right rear sway-bar
link worn/loose).
The cost for this was just under $3000.00. Are these items that I need to replace or are they ones that may degrade ride and tire wear over time and need not be replaced. I love the car, but this is a lot to spend if not really necessary.
Any experience or advice is most appreciated. Thanks.

My Jag is about the same age as yours and I have never replaced any suspension parts.
Are there any clunks or knocking noises or squeaks when you drive it? Wishbone bushes squeak when they fail.Any problems with uneven tyre wear?
I think they have shot themselves in the foot! There is nothing to leak in the wishbone bushes as far as I know! 3000 USD has got to be a rip off! Take it elsewhere for a second opinion.
Ask yourself what can happen if I do nothing? That's cheap!

One of the front bushes in the lower wishbone arm is a 'Hydrabush'. One of them leaked on my X350 (2004/52,000 miles) so I have had both replaced along with the D shaped sway bar bushes and one of the lower shock bushes. The rear end has had a fair bit replaced as well.
You should be able to get the items mentioned replaced for well under $1,000 and probably a lot less.
More info on sourcing the wishbone bush here:

Well, my front suspension started squeaking today. It squeaks if I manually bounce eeither front fender, but no noise form bouncing the rears.
Last year, I replaced both front air shocks and lower control arms. It seems strange to me that both upper A arm bushings would start squeaking at the same time. This leads me to suspect the issue is more likelt a sway arm (stabilizer bar) bushing. Do you guys have any other theories?
