Default 2004 XJ8 sagging headliner

Does anyone know how to re-adhere the headliner in the rear upper post area? Also, the headliner has detached from the moon roof slider. I used a mudknife to re-stretch it, but have not tried to glue it back.

The rear portion has simply sagged where the post meets the roof. What technique would you suggest...

Really no clean or good way to re-glue it. Best to redo it completely. Not sure what your budget is but you could get it replaced for less than $200, if you have a bit more to spend you could relace all fabric (incl. pillars, visors) with micro suede or Alcantara.

I have read a lot of posts on sagging headliners on this forum which is mostly US guys posting. Is it an issue just in the US, and maybe just the sunshine states, or where it gets really hot ? Reason I ask is because it is not a problem here in the UK where we have cold and wet summers like this and last years, (and the previous 10 for that matter !!)

Thanks for the valuable info. I'll seek the Dealer's recommendation for a competent interior outfit in the OKC area and get back...

Default Sagging headliners

I have a 2000 XJ Vanden Plas in sunny and hot Florida. The headliner started sagging in the back. The problem is the foam backing the material is attached to starts to crumble from the heat. There is no repair that will work. It has to be replaced. I simply looked in the local telephone directory and had a guy come to my car and place the entire headliner in about an hour for $100.00. It looks great and totally restored. Good luck.

Default another price point

I paid $75 last year in Huntsville, AL for the sunroof slide. They did a great job (now looking at the rest of the headliner)

Default Headliner

anyone here that can recommend headliner repair in birmingham, al? I have a 2005 Jag X-Type.

My headliner sags in the rear. I am going to get headliner pins until I find a good shop.

I contacted the Dealer, OKC Jag, who directed me to an outfit on Classen, who quoted $345 plus fifty to do the slider IF it's yanked out and handed to them. I'm going to keep looking around.

That's way off the mark! Most fabric, boat, automotive custom & interior shops should be able to get it done.
