Default 2004 XJ8 Serpentine Belt Issue

I have a 2004 Xj8 and this is the second bely that I have had to replace due to a small portion of the belt about 1/8" wide and about 2 to 3 inches long coming apart at the edge of the belt closest to tech radiator inspection of all pulleys and tensioner reveals no problem with these items.

What am I missing about this issue any info on how to correct this problem would be greatly appreciated.

Do you have the new updated tensioner and idler pulleys installed? If not, that's where I would start.

Thank you the response. I purchased the car used last year and do not know if any upgrade was done to the tensioner or the pulleys. is there a way that I can tell by visual inspection? Also do you have any additional info on the Tensioner and pulley parts? Are they only available from a Jaguar dealer?
Thanks Ralph Falanga

doing a tensioner and idler pulley myself Ralph, you can buy from a couple places, thru a member vendor, nalley jaguar (good deals for us members), motorcarsltd.com (ask for Ken, he's a member) or aftermarket pulleys, which I'm trying. See this thread for details of my issues.

FYI on 2004 XJ8 Belt Tensioner and Idler Pulley replacement. I was able to find aftermarket parts that were cross-referenced from the Gates website. The part numbers I used as replacements are Gates Belt Tensioner part number 38279 local price $65.32 Gates Idler Pulley part number 38006 local price $18.46 Gates Serpentine Belt part number K060910HD local price $47.12. I installed all three items without any difficulty, the squeal noise on cold start is gone and the belt is tracking straight and true, gone is any noise and belt wobble. Parts were installed on Saturday and I have been driving everyday without any issues. Hope this helps if anyone else has the same issue.

Thank you for your responses and guidance. This forum is a fantastic resource for Jaguar owners.

Ralph

sorry Ralph, just now saw your prior post. Glad you found some good aftermarket options. You saved some coin over the OEM tensioner.
