i believe it is the same as on s types described and documented with video at thelurch.com

The true fix for it is a bottle of steering friction modifier they call it for around $20 if this is the case with your car. if you dont ask for it they might try to sell you a $300 service to add it lol

The noise comes from the steering rack and is cured by the addition of a small bottle of fluid, just a few ounces, to the power steering fluid reservoir.
It cured mine after I bought a bottle from my Jag dealer.
I think I paid about £10 english so that's about 15/20 Bucks to you.
The fluid has to be warmed up prior to adding the fluid.
It's an easy fix for a very annoying problem.

Read my thread here on the squeak including the link to the Jaguar TSB about the problem and which cars/VINs it affects
Note...the additive does seem to have fixed most owners cars but Jaguar dont guarantee a cure, however my local dealer said they have not had any cars return with the squeak

Heck yeah BuckMR2. That's awesome, thank's a million for posting that TSB. I just picked up my PAS "fluid additive" today, it was about $14...

Correct me if i am wrong, but i looks like the "Temperate probe" is necessary for the shop to check if it solves the problem before the car leaves the shop. Wouldn't you think that normal city driving would heat the fluid and circulate it just as well?

Thanks.

A lot of people have just removed 50ml of the old power steering fluid and added the 50ml bottle of the additive, then taken their cars for a drive with some full lock left and right turns. The fluid should stop the squeak.
I had the dealer do mine out of laziness and they might well off just added the removed 50ml added the additive and turn the steering lock to lock a few times for all I know but it stopped the squeak for 3 years I had the car afterwards, still squeak free when I traded it in.
Put the label (just a number IIR) supplied with the additive on the power steering reservoir to show that its been added.

the exact same thing was occurring on my 2005 XJ L and I used an $8 can of sea foam as a lubricant to the rubber rings in side the cabin, under the dash by my feet, and it fixed the issue as fast as spraying wd40 on a squeaky door hinge. The reason I thought rinkokk there was because I felt a definitive, tactile sensation reverberating (slight vibration) in the dash and connected to the steering column. P
