Default 2004 XJ8 Suspension

My front end has been down for a week, I ordered Arnott compressor and installed. Car would not raise, pump would run and shutoff. Also had trans leak after getting trans fluid/pan. Took it to jag cert, mech today around 1pm, told them to ck electrical sleeve, and that I had replaced the pump. They called @ 4pm and said it was fixed. I was stunned..they said they cleared the puter and it raised. Also put new o-ring on plug below sleeve. Told me they cleaned everything up nice and said...@ the first sign of fluid leak, bring in, we fix. No charge for today.....very nice. I have spent about 1,500$ there in repairs in the recent past. They didnt give me paperwork, maybe forgot, I wanted to see if the codes backed up the compressor R&R. Will keep posted on any new developments

Could you give me your impression of the front-end ride quality; I have been underwhelmed with the machine's ability to soak up bridge expansion joints and road moguls. My big cat airs up just fine, but does have one non-OEM airspring at LF. It's been a constant source of suspicion.

Mine does the same over expansion joints and speed/driveway bumps. Not overkill but after I drove for abit, I found myself slowing ahead of problematic irregularities. Otherwise it floats down a smooth road.

Default front end shimmy

I've got the same sounding problem on my 2005 VDP, over sharper bumps the front end hops around and transmits vibration into the steering. Some have said it's the steering rack. Someone else that it's a component tolerance "stacking" problem, from multiple components being on the same end of their tolerances. Another suggested bushings (but the bushings have been replaced).

To me it feels like bad shocks. I've had bad shocks in other cars that behaved similarly.

Too many people are describing similar sounding symptoms. There's a systematic problem but nobody seems to have nailed a common cause.

Have shock bushings been replaced? Mine look fine to the eye but my mech showed me a lot of play when he moved the wheel up and down really good on the lift.
