2004 XJ8 TCM needed
Friends on the forum - any idea the best place to source on of these? Also, anything to look for serial number wise etc? The transmission shop has rebuilt the whole valve body, replaced everything, reflashed and yet still the problems exits, so TCM is the theory of the moment. Thanks!

Can you be more specific about the remaining problems? What are the symptoms? Is it throwing codes? It is very rare for one of these TCM's to go bad and it is difficult to swap them out. After installation, the car will not move until an OEM Jaguar diagnostic system re-programs the new TCM to your car. Therefore, it is worth your time to eliminate every other possible fault before calling the TCM.
Good Luck

The TCM is matched to the specific vehicle's PCM, including 04 - 05 XJ's.
The car may, and I say "may" run and drive after install, but you will have a permanent P0610 code.
You need Jaguar diagnostic software to properly code the TCM into the donor vehicle/tranmission.
TCM's can be swapped from S Type and XK and even XJR's - but again, need to be flashed and calibrated to the PCM.

Now, when you say they reflashed the TCM.... how?
Frankly, the trans ship should be sourcing or giving you information accordingly.
What is the issue(s) currently? Any codes??

Here was the fix -
I had them put back in my original TCM - updated and reflashed with IDS and then cleared the adaptions. The shop rebuild the valve body very nicely, but just could not figure out the programming/TCM side of things until I physically sat with them. UNREAL. The good news? I drove 1200 flawless miles this weekend in and out of the mountains from Vegas to CA and it never missed a beat. Super happy, just made it took eight weeks and all this fighting to get it done. As always, this forum knows more than most "pros" who don't want to listen.

Gents - sorry for the late reply, the trans shop was a disaster - but I was able to find a new company and go to the shop and help them fix it myself. They swapped out a TCM, did not flash it properly and then when they got confused got very condescinding with me about "marrying my problem" etc etc. This is after I paid them $5k!

A great end.... enjoy!

Many times the IDS software will tell you that the ECM needs updating and TCM adaptations cleared so the time to configure will be longer, DO YOU WISH TO CONTINUE?
Make sure the battery does not die during configuration.
When I worked at the dealer, we were warned about voltage drop and Jaguar would NOT reimburse for damaged control modules due to lost power during configuration.
