Post 2004 XJ8 X350 Rear control arms

Just wanted to let everyone know about my experience with replacing rear upper and lower control arms for my 2004 XJ8. I used 2002 Lincoln Ls upper and lower arms. They worked and looked the same as the original as far as I can tell after 500 miles. This may have been posted before but I didn't see it. They were less than half Jaguar price on ebay. I was going to replace the bushings but that turned into a nightmare trying to get the pivot bushings in. Hope this helps someone.

Thanks for sharing!
Can you share cost and where you sourced the parts?

I'll bet the car drives like new.

I did all my rears except for the air struts and some front bushings on 06 SV8. The best advice for buyers of XJs is to bite the bullet and factor the cost in at purchase and redo the suspension ASAP to fully enjoy the quite ride and handling of the cars.

It does drive like new. I had a shimmy in the front and I did the complete front last summer and still had a shimmy in the steering wheel when I was done. I had replaced the rotors 3 times with wagoners before that and it always came back within 2 weeks so I thought surely that was not it. I was so aggravated I decided to spent the money on R1 Concepts best slotted and drilled rotors. It cured it instantly. Happy I have all new suspension but I think I could have just bought the rotors and been done. Btw not that it should matter but the rotors make it look pretty cool.

Anyone know where to source rear lower control arms? Maybe I'm going crazy but I can't find any to save my life not even for Lincoln LS.

I just ordered front and rear uppers, front lower control arms and rear satbilizer bar links. All from Rockauto under Lincoln LS.
Thanks in advance!

Sweet! Thanks for the part numbers and sources. I'm about to do the same with the addition of wheel refinishing and brake caliper powder coating in red. Going in for a quote on Saturday. All done at the same place. I just hope those part numbers are still compatible with the X358. Crossing my fingers.

Hi all! I'm about to order the rear suspension parts but first wanted to confirm if the Lincoln LS parts will fit a 2008 model. Can anyone confirm? Thanks.

The rear Lincoln LS are the same. That is what I put on my 2006 XJR.
The front lower are not the same. I bushed the front lower rearward arm. The front lower forward arm (curved arm) had been replaced prior and were fine.
Take a look at the front lower control arms. The Jaguar are unique.

Dang, wished I would've known about the front lower control arms. Hopefully I'll be able to return them.

I think you can find bushings for the two lower arms. Lemforder and Beck and Arnley. Between Rock Auto and Partsgeek.
The description of the lower front arm bushings is confusing. Inner and outer, plus rear forward. The only part missing is the ball joint.

Majority of the parts I got from rock auto. Great prices, be sure to Google the 5% discount code. I got the rear uppers and bushings for the rear lowers on ebay.

Did you do the job yourself? If you did, how difficult was it? I am waiting on my parts. Also, any special tools needed? I think a breaker bar might come in handy. I wonder what size the control arm bolts and nuts are. I may need new tools.

I just dropped of the car at the shop today. The owner told me it would be ready by Wednesday. They will be replacing the rear upper and lower control arms, links and toe adjustment rods as well as replacing the transmission pan and adding new fluid. I was quoted around $800 including the pan and fluid but not the suspension parts which I sourced myself.

I am a little concerned that my car will never return from the shop. There were at least 75 cars in the back of the shop waiting for service. I'm not sure why so many cars. Perhaps they are waiting parts or the owners can't afford to pay, I don't know.

There was a yellow Ferrari 360, a blue Ferrari 550, an earlier Lamborghini Countach, lots of Porches, BMWs, Maseratis and Mercedes SLs and an S63.

I hope to drive my car again. LOL

Is it definitely true that the Moog RK621951 and Moog RK621952 will fit ALL X350s and X358s? The lower control arm part numbers for the Lincoln LS were one from 00-02 and then a different one beginning in 03. It also appears that the part numbers for the jaguar rear lower control arms also changed over time. Has anyone installed the Moog ones on the X358? It is weird as all the online pictures look the same for the Lincoln LS all years and Jag X350s and X358s all years but the part numbers have changed. For example, Moog and Dorman only say that theirs fit 00-02 and not beyond even though the part looks the same. Any advice is appreciated.

I have a 2008 XJR and I ordered the Dorman rear lower control arms from a 2002 Lincoln LS and they fit just fine.

If you don't mind could you post the part numbers and roughly what did all that cost.

Thanks,
Griff
