I have recently installed after market subwoofers and an amplifier. Here is a list of the materials that I used and some pictures.
2- Kicker 6 1/2" subs CVT6.5-4
1- Soundstream amp DI175.1
1- Walmart Scosche install kit
1- Scosche line out converter
1- A roll duck tape
1- about 10 feet of 14 gauge speaker wire
4- wire splices
2- Velcro
1. Remove the rear seat and deck lid.
2. Remove the factory Alpine speakers.
3. Remove all the carpeting from the trunk.
4. Mount the kicker subs. The holes don't line up so you need to drill new ones.
5. Take the factory speaker wire and feed them down holes in the deck lid so you can get to them from the trunk.
6. Mount the line out converter and use the wire splices to connect the two channels. You can use zip ties to mount the converter.

7. Remove the navigation unit and bend the brakets down to lay over the top of the unit. ( sounds weird, but you will understand when you remove the side left side carpet) This is where the new amplifier will mount. Take your time to aligh the amp on the navigation unit, I used velcro to secure it.
8. Cut the top panel of the left side carpet above the navigation unit to exspose the amplifier.
9. Install power cable from the battery and run it next to the tire and out far left corner.

10. Install the ground wire on the chassis ground below the factory amplifier.

11. I used the wire harness from the rear DVD connector for the remote switched 12v source. The 4th pin from the left top side with the tap facing the back of the vehicle.

12. Connect the RCAs
13. Tape everything down so it doesn't rattle!!!!
14. Reinstall deck lid, rear seat and all the carpet inside the trunk.
15. Enjoy!!!!!!!

I'm still in the process of tuning it in. I'm pretty shocked how two small subs can hit pretty hard. Sounds like I will have to insulate the rear license plate, it's starting to rattle. This is a Jag and not a OLDS 88!! The bass clarity is much better with the Kicker subs. I did run them from the stock amp for a day or two and they sounded better than the Alpine speakers. I like that I can still adjust the bass on the factory system. My only concern is the heat thats going to build up in the quarter panel in the summer. The entire upgrade costed me under $250 and about 15hrs of my time.

The stock screw holes are slightly larger than the normal pattern on a 6.5 sub. You will have to drill new holes for the screws, but not for the speker itself. I didn't use adapter plates and the Kickers are designed for free air. They are made for shallow mounting depths like replacing door speakers. I got them for about $125 on ebay. The biggest problem now is rattling. I think I will need about 20 feet of velcro to secure all the panels in the trunk.
