Default 2004 XJR engine compartment fuel leak ..Please help me ID this part.

2004 XJR driver's side FPR, or FP sensor? just below the intercooler.

Hey all. thankfully she didn't catch on fire, but I can't quite make out what this line and component actually are. It drips while running and for a few min after the engine is shut off. My guess is the fuel pressure regulator, fuel pressure sensor, or some kind of evap return component. no error codes of any kind. I dodged a bullet by catching it when I did! Praise and thanks to the Jag gods! I've had her 9.5 years and she has never left me stranded. This is good because a)the local shops are not very competent on these. and b) I don't drive what I don't wrench on.

1) Anyone know the part?
2) Anyone dealt with this before?
3) It's leaking as if there should be a hose clamp on it. looks like the black plastic part at the end toward the engine was a ratchet clamp, but that's crazy, right?

Many thanks in advance folks!!!

Fuel supply line to the injectors

When the hoses were fitted to they were flexible and joints did not require

extra clamps but after years of heat and use the hoses have hardened

and one joint on your car is leaking.

It is no use putting clamps on hardened hoses.

You will be able to dismantle that chrome fitting at the engine end and remove

hose after depressing fuel pressure and you may be able to re use it.

NB fuel system on these cars is returnless

Please let us know how you progress

Excellent, thank you Sir! So I see how to remove that clip from the underside now. Seems simple enough. Trying to find how far back this part runs and how to remove other end. Also, not having much luck finding the part new or used......

i’m saying you use the ford quick connect tool to remove it

again the fuel feed pipe has been unavailable for probably 10+ years

go call any junkyard that has an x350 sc in stock and ask them if they can pull the line that goes from the rail to the wheel well

next question, anyone know what this part is? Same part number for a diesel unit as on my rail. DOES NOT come on the v6 S type fuel pipe. My guess is a damper. Wondering how necessary this part is as it introduces two possible leak points when trying to put together a replacement line incorporating it with clamps of some sort. Definitely isn't used on the later XF/XJs with 5 l supercharged engine.... Seems to be an 03 through 05 model year type S through XJ variant thing only

it’s the big impulse damper there’s also two little guys on the rail

don’t need it. ford even got rid of them on the 03-06 3.9 v8

Update! at least have IDd what kind of fuel line connector it is. According to Napa it is a springlock fuel line connector. don't know if this is the right size but definitely on the right track...

Let's hope it's one of these sizes as these are the only two available. In theory I could have her up and running by end of day. Wish me luck folks

NAPA's online stock check far exceeded the stores actual ability.
Amazon has this:

Dorman 800-130 SPRINGLOCK FUEL LINE CONNECTOR- 11mm x 5/16In. BARBED MALE Compatible with Select Ford / Lincoln / Mercury Models

Will be here Saturday. Good call Xalty, THANKS!! I already have the ford quick disconnect tool, so I should be able to report a win soon.

Default Fixed!

Ok, so after seeing I'd have to pull the intercooler to be able to get quick disconnect tool access, I decided to follow the sage words of Xalty and did indeed go the "hack something together" route However, I think It is the best repair possible.

I did some research on nylon fuel line. It's NOT easy to bend without collapsing. It's not very forgiving either. You have to heat it up In order to make it semi malleable. But the moment you go too hot it burns through. Had the compounding issue of fitting it to two fixed barbs making a heat gun an unacceptable risk around open fuel lines. That's when a very hot cup of microwaved water comes into play.

The real trick is to bend the section using a long spring inside acting as an inner mandrel. In this case I cut off the end of one of those cheap mechanic parts grapplers You can get for like 6 bucks at harbor freight. Bend the spring, apply heat gun. Came out reasonably decent. One on left is mine. One on right was what I was trying to mimic. Three dimensional bends are a bit trickier.

After that you want to get it ready for the barbs. Best way I found was using one of the spring lock replacements I listed in previous post. Holding that in place with vise grips. Heating it up periodically while stretching the two ends over it. This was the hardest part.

The best clamps to use are single ear/ one use hose clamps that are pretty much designed for fuel lines. The trick to using those is having access for the ear clamp pliers. I had to get real creative on the engine side....

Overall it looks pretty good and feels pretty solid. That said , I'm always going.to be checking it every time I open the hood.

Hope this helps someone who finds themselves in the same spot and saves you some time!
