Default 2004 XJR, first time at track

I took my jag to the 1/4 mile today. It's the first time I've ran anything at the track, so considering that I think my time was great.

I ran a 14.093 @ 99.83
full interior, 1/4 tank of gas

60' was 2.164, I meant to remove my spare and jack, but forgot to throw it in my buddies trunk. My second run I smoked the tires down half the track, lol

Mirrors were out, 19" rims. I was in sport mode, traction control off. I would brake torque it a bit at the start and launch in drive. Anything you can remember about your runs to make some 13s @ 107, let me know

I went out to the track this summer...California Speedway to be exact. The car had a Mina exhaust and pulley, little over a half tank of gas, and full interior/spare etc. Sport mode, using the J-gate to shift (so the car reaches 6100rpm before it upshifts), traction control off, Falken FK-452 tires.

60' - 2.154
330' - 5.973
1/8 - 9.074 @ 79.29
1000' - 11.738
1/4 - 13.967 @ 101.61

The ambient air temperature was 110 degrees and my intake and coolant temperatures, as read back by Proscan, were 100 degrees higher than ambient...which may had something to do with the 5 consecutive 13.9xx runs. The highest I was able to trap was a 102.xx.

I would normally get insane wheelspin whenever I launch, however, since the track temperature was so hot and the car was suffering from minor heatsoak, I was able to do full brakeboost launches with little wheelspin.

How were the temperatures on your runs budsang and cincinnati?

I took my 99 XJR to the dragstrip 3 times now, twice last year and once this year. Last year, it was my first time ever at the dragstrip. Surprisingly, my first run of the night, and the first of my life, I ran the quickest of that night.
Run was at 13.263 @ 107.23 mph. No brakeboosting, I even forgot to turn traction control off. Car was completely stock other than some weight removed. Weight of car going down the track was 3750 lbs.
70-80 F temp, 93 octane
Oh, and I also smoked the tires halfway down the track another run (one tire actually, since there's no LSD).

My second trip to the dragstrip last year I managed 13.131 @106.63mph. With sticky tires or a limited slip diff, I'm sure I could have hit 12's. Again, this is with completely stock power.

That's awesome, I didn't realize the 99's were only 3750lbs. I also smoked a tire half way down the track on my second run. I just scrapped that run, didn't even try after the horrendous start, lol

Sounds like you guys had a lot of fun. Did you try some cheap drag racing tricks like pumping up the front tires to about 50 or so lbs and lowering the back tires to around 20 lbs? Also, did you do water burnouts to heat up the tires?

Wow and I thought the X308 XJR's could only manage mid 13's at best...

I assume the track you ran at was very close to sea level?

The track I ran at (California Speedway) is about 1200ft above sea level. Oh and I was on the terrible So-Cal 91 octane gas...

I did lower my rear tire pressure to 25psi on the Falken FK-452's. The front tires were at the factory 36psi. And I definitely smoked the tires in the waterbox before staging...I let it ring through first gear, and then I massaged the throttle in second to create some smoke

They're not; as I mentioned I had some weight removed. Stock weight is listed at 4075 from the factory. That's why I got such good numbers. 100 lbs is worth 10 hp, or .1 second.

Track I ran at is New York International Raceway Park in Leicester, NY. The elevation I just googled and got numbers from 900 ft. to 1010 ft.

During my 13.13 run, I inflated my fronts to 40 psi and deflated the rears to about 20 psi.

Remove the spare, jack, tools, etc. Make sure your tank is nearly empty, (gas weighs 8lb a gallon) lastly, kick the wife or GF out of the car.

13.13 is incredibly fast for a stock '99 XJR. The fastest time I could ever get stock was 13.55 at 105 mph.

Even after extensive mods the fastest time I got out of my '99 was 12.59 at 109 mph.

I removed all the stuff from the trunk (spare-50lbs, tools, carpeting, cd/amp, lighter battery-saved 30 lbs), rear seats-40ish lbs, passenger seat-55lbs, some other interior stuff. I already had the rear interior removed for another reason and I just wanted to see how fast a lighter stock HP car would go so I just continued to remove things that came off easily. 3750 was with driver, but I'm not heavy and I was basically empty on fuel.

Gas weighs 6.15 lbs per gallon not 8. It's water that weighs 8.34 lbs per gal.

I put all my interior back in after my second trip to the track last year.
