2004 XJR Hood latch issues
Hi folks.
My hood latch has broken and I am unable to open the hood. It appears to be dislodged or broken at the latch end.
I have removed the wheel and inner lining, but with all the heat exchangers, pipes etc. I see no way to access the latch.
Any help or suggestions would be most welcome.

You can access through the grill if you have the standard grill.

If it's like my 2007, and I'm assuming it would be, there are two latches controlled by the inside release. The center latch only applies once those are released. These are about halfway from the center to the headlight on each side, circled in the picture. They're in front of the radiator, so you're not getting to them from the wheel well.
On mine there is a cap on the bottom of the one on the vehicle's left, but not on the other one. Knowing where it is, one could imagine using a long tool through the grille to trip the latch on the uncovered one, but I see no way to unlatch the other one. The pull cable is sheathed, as well.

Does the latch pull as normal inside the car ? When I had my 2003, it wasn't the latches that were seized, but the cable. I fitted a new cable, the old one being totally rusted out and unuseable. They are not expensive, (or at least not in 2011 they weren't ! ). Needless to say, I lubed the latches too. Make sure you lube the new cable, as it comes with none. I used an oiler made for motorcycle Bowden cables.
