Default 2004 XJR Rear Sunblind wont open

So I press the button and it looks as though it moves up a little bit and then down a tiny bit when I press the button but no further than that. Any idea what is wrong? Something silly I'm not doing right?

Don't tell me that, tell me I need to wiggle something and it will work perfectly...

that's the only thing I've heard. i recall someone getting it to work by pulling/helping it up while someone else is hitting the button, I tried that but it didn't work.

It does occasionally stick in its surround pull up slightly to release and should work fine after that...they do occasionaly fail, but not often

Mine works all the time!

I've thought of putting some message there, so if someone tailgates I can just wind it up and tell them to "back off!"

okay so pulling it up manually wont damage anything? it seemed pretty tight when i tried (but i didn't try too hard in case i broke it further) should i pull when i see the motor close it or after i've seen it try and open it

Default I'm with BRUTAL

Just try pulling up to help it while someone else pushes the button. Don't force it just try to help, it will feel tight but I don't think you could break it if you tried. They just get sleeping sickness, not used for a month and then inop. Used everyday, no problems.

There is a service bulletin for this problem. Includes updated swing arms and new motors. If you want to spend money I can provide the part numbers. Never had one come back with new motors and arms installed.
