2004 XJR trunk fuse box relay question

I recently replaced the front shocks due to an Air Suspension fault. After the repairs were completed, the trunk will now only open using the key. The dash mounted switch, trunk switch, and the remote - all do not work to open the trunk. Also, the trunk will only slam shut and the actuator does not pull it closed.
After checking for a blown fuse, I searched the forums and discovered that the wiring at the right trunk hinge can weaken and break, causing this problem. I removed the trim/carpet from the trunk lid and traced the wires and inspected the connectors to the trunk switch and did not identify any wiring issues.
I noticed that there are (3) relays in the trunk fuse box @ R1,R2, and R3. The R4 position is vacant.
Should there be a relay in the R4 posiiton in the trunk fuse box?

The answer to your question is no.
If you are sure that you have no broken wires in the loom to the boot then it is likely that you have a problem with the boot lock system.
Note that this consists of an electric motor and a microswitch-three switches altogether.
I would suspect the microswitch since I have had to replace one in a door lock.
Let us know the result of your investigation and I may be able to help further.
