Default 2005 new to me XJ8 air suspension fault. I know

I know this is common, I just joined the forum. I need to post several posts before I am a qualified member. I understand.
I Purchased a lovely 2005 charcoal XJ8 VDP from private seller, no issues on test drive. One day later getting readout of air suspension fault. I had read about these issues. Not freaked out. All tires seem level to body, signal goes away and comes back. Relay?? Compressor? Thoughts or hello to new guy

All good wishes, JK

Get the codes read to isolate the problem. It is likely a tired compressor that is not filling the reservoir fast enough. Look on the forum for articles on this.

The code to expect is C2303 Reservoir plausibility error. Tired air compressor is common on these cars, due to the piston seal wearing. If you're a DIYer, you can get a new seal from "bagpipingandy' on this site.

Alternatively, the compressors run out at about £300, and there are plenty on the internet. Its also used on other cars like Audis.

If it is of comfort, I replaced mine in Autumn 2010 and its been OK since and 40k miles

+1 on Frasers comments with my limited knowledge.

If it is a tired air compressor, then BagpipingAndy is your man & he's a member here
Check this out for a better idea

I put in one of Andy's seal kits last weekend.
Simple easy job that took 10mins excluding the compressor removal

Cheers
