2005 Vanden Plas - Boot parts:What are these?
Hi all.....
Dangling Module - What is this? Why isn't it attached somewhere?
The spare fuses and an empty cavity adjacent - was this designed for a purpose?
It almost looks like a welders mask-is this a part used in the securing of the spare tire or a stray part that isn't even a Jaguar part?
While looking through the drivers manual, I discovered there are spare fuses in the back of the boot. While there, I found a loose part, a dangling module(that has four screw holes for securing somewhere), and the spare fuses. In my manual, someone marked the trunk fuse chart with yellow highlighter over the air suspension fuse(no idea why). I am wondering, still, about the following:
1) What is the second space that is covered by a plastic cover designed for?
2) Did the spare fuses come with a fuse pulling tool? I didn't see one.
3)What the hail is that part dangling in the trunk that has alot of electrical tape bound around the cable? And whatever it is, shouldn't it be attached somewhere? I can't find a place with four holes to secure it somewhere?
4)What is the part that is plastic and has a square and round hole? It was laying loose , just around the spare tire, but nearer the back of the car. I'm guessing-may be part of the spare tire securing system?
Thanks to this forum, I was able to verify that this VDP was not equipped with a voice module, but I was able to connect our Samsung S9 and Note 9 phones, and use the pre-installed speaker.

The welders mask is the cover for the electronic latch. Just pop it in, it probably keeps popping out like mine did. Can you provide the numbers on it? I lost mine.
The plastic saucer goes between your spare wheel and the butterfly screw to hold it in place. For safe keeping go ahead and screw in the holder into the recess of the foam.
There is supposed to be a fuse puller that goes into a slot with the spare fuses. It's useless but you can get a better replacement at your local auto parts store (I did)
The 2nd cubby is for your secret stash, or in my case condoms.
That cable connector is for optional add ons like bluetooth, rear ent system etc. Don't know which specifically of the top of my head.

Abanano - Ok, I'll make similar use and add some small tools wrapped in a cloth. Thank you!
BlackKat - The numbers for the electronic latch cover (welders match thing) are actually there in my photo. Here's a closer shot-can you read it?
It's 2W93-40(or it could be a D )6A78 and either a "DC" or "CD" ; not sure about the last 2 alpha-letters. If you find the part, I'd like to know where and the cost, just because I'm curious. :-)
Below the square hole: PP+T20 and to the right P797D(or P7970)..hard to be 100% sure. I hope this helps. Thank you for the suggestion for stashing the privates. Never travel without those certain necessities! LOL.
Ok, on the unidentified module....but it was so sloppily done, to say the least.
I'll be tending to all this later today - thanks guys!

You're welcome! I managed to put the cover over the trunk latch; too bad there's not a better fit. I'm going to think about how to make that "welders mask" fit better.
I have the spare secured and while I was doing it, I found another part. it's as big as the battery, black with three holes. The prior owner said they had the battery
replaced(I have the receipts). Would this be a plastic piece that should be under the battery? I'll take a photo of the piece unless someone knows what this is for, also.
Jeesh. Parts everywhere.

I, apparently, am missing all the pieces needed to secure the spare. However, I didn't see the anchor point for the threaded rod. I was expecting to see something welded to the floor pan. What am I missing?

Toyman - Right. I'll be buying a fuse puller; needle nose pliers were my go-to. Someone apparently removed and kept it. I'm glad it isn't all that great, anyway.
There's a threaded female anchor point - unusual that you are missing yours. Someone broke it, being careless? See any signs of its life before it was broken or ? Is yours fitted with a full size spare?
Incidentally, I like the full size spare, but in the years we've had other cars without full-size spares, AAA came to our rescue. The Bridgestone Driveguards (runflats)that came with this car we bought in
January 2020, are good for 50 miles, if the tires are punctured. Overall - I'd rather have the non run-flats. The trunk would be huge without that spare!

Mystery part and Tire Securing Bolt/System
Here's the last part floating around in the boot. Is this associated with the battery or is it even a Jaguar part?
Toyman - here's what part you would need that threads into the air suspension compressor area.
Here's the vertically attached bolt that threads into the area around the trunk air suspension compressor. Sorry, I didn't see part numbers.

Toy man - Looking at my photos posted:
If you note, there's a foam form which covers the compressor.
A threaded rod screws into the base of the compressor skirt(or metal flange...what have you...)
Theres a threaded nut at the top of this rod, but this piece sits below the foam form top hole.
In other words, the female end of the nut is not poking above the compressor foam form.
Now, there's the other piece that you should have to screw into the female end of the rising threaded bolt.
Two completely separate pieces make this system work.
Like you, I have a full size tire and wheel that sits over the foam form that is protecting/covering the compressor.
Once carefully placed over the foam form, you merely screw the other threaded bolt and plastic pieces into the female end(which, again, sits below the top level of the foam form)
and tighten clockwise.
If you're scratching your head, I bet you don't have two pieces...just see the photos I posted. Someone apparently took these from your trunk or something?
Hope this helps.

The only ones I NEVER mounted during PDI was the XK coupes/conv.
I always asked the new owner if they wanted it mounted as the cost of bumper repair was not worth it to the sales dept.
One time a customer agreed to buy a new XK but refused to have the front tag mount. The sales dept had to send the car to a body shop to repair/replace the bumper cover 'holes' just to get it sold.
The sales manager requested we NOT install the front tag mount on new cars until the new car buyer gave permission.
Many returned later to have it mounted after they were issued citations for NOT having a front tag!! (Texas requires a front tag)
At least we gave them the choice.

In Michigan, for some time, we were required to have front and back mounted license plates. When we left Michigan in 1995, it was still a requirement, but no more. I didn't think any state required front mounted licenses anymore. Texas might have company (other states). I'll keep this in case I move to Texas - who knows where we'll end up these days?
