2005 VDP OBD sensors won't start logging - what to do??
Hi All:
Recently had an inspection done on my 2005 VDP and during the inspection, the mechanics disconnected the battery, removed the spark plugs, and so on. Passed the inspection just fine.
I went to get the smog test on it (I'm in CA, if it's not obvious!) and it passed everything but the OBD self tests. The mechanic said it was probably due to the tinkering on the electrical system during the inspection.
So, he advised me to drive it "100 miles under 60 miles an hour" and I got to blow a couple hours last night doing exactly that.
Took it back in and it passed everything again, but half of the OBD self tests still failed. I called a European car mechanic I know and he said it might take a "week or two" for the OBD tests to completely reset and start logging again.
I might have missed a direct thread about this, but I've seen mention of some driving points that should be hit to start all of the OBD self-tests again. I don't have a list of those...does anyone?
Any other help or advise out there? I'd really like to get this to pass the smog inspection. It passed one fine in March, as well as all the prior ones for the last 7 years, so it's not an issue with something being totally inoperable or anything like that (or that I know of!)
Thanks!
Dave
