Thanks for the update. We'll anxiously await your test drive report!
If I understand correctly that you have one failed shock absorber, if the price were right I would love to purchase it, then dissect it and take photos to post here on the forum for our collective education. Please let us know when you list the parts on eBay!
Cheers,
Don

Air suspension problems plus one more
I have the exact experience as described in this thread. However after installing new Arnott front air shocks, the compressor fails to run. checked the circuits and no electricity is getting to the compressor, check at fuses and lines are dead. Fuses are intact. Did the on/off thing to activate the compressor but no luck. Found a very obscure reference in an online manual that dealer must activate suspension system. True? Am working with a very experienced mechanic/teacher in a school lab situation and we are baffled. Thanks for any help!

deewhip,
Since it stopped working after you replaced the front systems, I would go over the installation steps again. Maybe one of the electrical connections on the top of the shock isn't making contact. Don't know if that would cause the compressor to not operate, but something happened during installation.

Is the suspension error light on?
if this light is on the system will do nothing and will need a diagnostic tool to read and clear the error stored.
if no error light is on take the car a short slow drive, sometimes the compressor will not start until the car hits 25MPH
let us know if that error light is on
regards

2004 xjr suspension problems
help!
I've been a lot uh threads about the air suspension problems, I have an 04 xjr when couple winters ago I started getting the message vehicle too low, and the car wasn't fun to drive afterwords, so I got busy and parked the car, till this spring, according to all the treads I rad, I pulled the compressor off and rebuild the air piston, put it back and instead of starting the car, I went and put the inner fender back , then the tire , then started the car, well the compressor starts for 2 minutes the shuts off, then afterwords starts for 10 seconds then shuts off, but the car stays low in the front and nothing changed, I took it for a test drive, still vehicle too low and the ride is uncomfortable, so the more I rad threads, I parked the car , unplugged the battery, measured all four tires from floor to fender, then next day remeasured, well measurement still the same on all 4 tires, now the back is an inch higher then the front. so the more I dug online, I ran across a manual for 04 jaguar xj over 320 pages, from what I rad when the car is parked and it levels itself, it only does it in lowering and not raising so it don't drain the battery, so I said to myself maybe the car didn't drop anymore in the front because it couldn't drop anymore, so I unscrwed one air air hose at a time and started the car, plenty of pressure but water came out uh the hose and everytime I shut the car and wait a minute and restart it to get a full cycle out uh the compressor, water kept coming out of the hose. Help!!!!!!!!!!!!

DON B> what have you heard about the air shocks these people reman.?
For less then 700 bucks for a pair, with free shipping and a one year warranty, and a core refund of 50 dollars for the pair, if you want to go to the trouble of sending the old ones back, it sounds like a good, less expensive product.
They still retain the CATS system also, use new Goodyear bladders and rebuild the shocks with new HYD oil etc..
Cheers

I went with the Arnott new shocks-as I was able to save all other costs-installed them myself during an adult ed class at the local high school-did lots more too. Seems to me the rebuilts were a safe alternative when I was evaluating my situation. BTY-it is a fairly easy job to install the shocks-just be sure to tighten with torque wrench-I went beyond the suggest lbs as there was some clunky noise during the first test drive. Be sure to disconnect the battery to keep the computer stuff in sequence.
Good luck!
