I have a 2005 XJ8 L with about 52,000 miles. I have been getting the air suspension fault message for some time... The problem is the Jaguar dealer is about 4 hours from me... I am female and in no way mechanically inclined so anything I have learned about this problem has been read on forums...
As Mr. Francis Albert Sinatra sang on his "My Way", there are sort of "bad news" sound like: "And now, the end is near".
I can tell you how it starts from my own experience.
Issue starts infrequent as the message "Air Suspension Fault" appears, then, in a very short time after, message became more often and most of the time the
direction is clear, replace both air suspension struts on the same axle.
As it's getting close to "The end is near"... then the message "Vehicle Too Low" start to appear along w/the "Air Suspension Fault"...
Shortly afterwards, the height of the vehicle decreases until the top of the of the wing covers the car's tires and you won't be able to fully steer, the vehicle starts
to rub with bumpers and prominent objects on the road until, (possible), the air spring explodes, (it made of rubber after all), the wheels camber angle became
negative, (https://dnpp98jra4k9j.cloudfront.net/images/camber.png), and it is no longer possible to steer and totally drive in the vehicle until replace both air
suspension on the same axle.
(sometimes activity also require to replace some other arms have bolljoints/rubber components).
Now, if you do not have the proper tools like: hydraulic car jack, torque wrench, ratchet & sockets, impact wrench etc. you will need to coordinate and assist the
Jaguar professional mechanic.
I did it by myself and I'm attaching here some photos took from 30/10/2019 - 02/11/2019, but.. it's not a simple job.
I use "Bilstein"'s C2C41347BN (front air suspension strut, you can follow "Bilstein"'s video below) and "Lemförder" front upper R&L arms/wishbone arms
C2C41960 & C2C41961.
Wish you luck, all the best and keep drivin' safe.
