2005 XJ8L - compass error

I just bought a 2005 XJ8L, the place were I got it agreed to have the headliner replaced as it was falling down.
After I got it back, the compass is showing 00 and the interior lighting on the same console isn't working. I'm assuming they pulled out the console on the roof and failed to connect it properly when they put it back.
My questions are:
Is the console just held in by compression clips and I can just pull it down to access the wiring?
Also, is there a procedure for resetting the compass after I verified the connections?
The mirror is the 2 button one. I gathered there are more than one type and figured I'd mention it.

I have seen the procedure on the forum - perform a search...
There should be 2 holes on the bottom of the mirror. You place a paper clip in (I believe the left hole) to set the "zone" and then you stick the paper clip in the right hole to "calibrate" - I believe the display will read "cal" - then you drive in a circle 3 or 4 times until the "cal" disappears from the display.

According to the Parts Manual, there's two of these used on the X350 Roof Console.
They get a serious hold on the plastic tabs in the console which are easy to break. Pull straight down to release the Trim Clips.

Hopefully this can help,
I'm not sure about the paper clip fix. But when I got my XJ8 it did not come with the compass i pick up one on e-bay. Remove the old one install the new one went to the park down the street form the house and did the following: This is in the manual page 3-10
.C. displayed:
The difference between magnetic north and true north varies around the world and is separated into numbered zones as shown on the map. The correct zone number must be entered into the compass to show a heading relative to true north. If the compass displays the wrong direction, it may be because the wrong zone number has been entered or the vehicle has moved to a different zone:
3. The mirror compass will return to normal compass mode

If .C. is displayed in the compass window, the compass must be calibrated. Drive the vehicle in a circle at less than 5 mph (8 km/h) until the display shows a direction.
The compass will be calibrated once it has tracked a complete circle.
Incorrect direction displayed:
The compass responds to magnetic north but displays directions relative to true north.
1. With the display turned on, press the COMP button for 3 seconds until the zone selection number is displayed on the mirror compass.
2. If the incorrect zone number is displayed, repeatedly push the COMP button until the correct zone number is displayed.
3. The mirror compass will return to normal compass mode
within 10 seconds of no button activity.
Now as for the overhead I install a Mic in the car about a three weeks ago and found this
PDF or one of the other members sent it to me don't remember.
