2005 xjr should I do a trans service
I bought my 2005 xjr with 110k miles on it over three years ago and the trans shifts beautifully. I've put 7 k miles on it so far. I don't know if the trans fluid has ever been changed. Should I leave it alone or should i change. Worried that if I change the fluid and filter will it create slippage or problems.

I went to an official ZF-maintenance center for that job.
They advised that a correct „fluid-refreshment“ would make sense, specially if a lot of stop-and-go driving is done (the average speed I drive in my car according to trip computer is between 15 and 20 MPH).
I payed 545,-€ incl. new pan with integrated filter and hand-over-drive with mechanic.
My old fluid was still ok at 102.000 miles.
Also the pan with filter still looked good.
Regardless of that ZF recommended to come again after 60.000 miles.
After service the transmission works as before: Smooth and fine.

Actually ZF is not consistent in their recommendations.
I read one service manual in which they wrote „not before 100,000 miles“.
Then they seem to recommend 60 to 80,000 miles in overseas markets.
On my invoice they printed 80 to 100,000 km which is 50 to 62,000 miles.
Judging the condition of my 15 year old tranny with 102,000 miles including Autobahn full throttle and frequent stop-and-go I decided not to do it again before the next 100,000 have passed.

Yes you should. As of 8/2013, ZF recommends the following:
ZF automatic transmissions are filled with specially developed semi-synthetic oils.
At very high operating temperatures, the oil ages faster than under normal conditions. Examples:
Many trips at high speeds.
Many trips with a trailer in tow.
Sporty driving.
Depending on the driving style, ZF therefore recommends a transmission oil change every 80 000 to 120 000 km, or after 8 years at the latest.
