2005 XJR Timing Chain Cover removal help?
My 2005 XJR has developed an oil leak and a recent trip to the mechanic revealed that it is the timing chain cover gasket. I purchased both the upper and lower gaskets and dropped the car off to have them installed. He called me back with a quote of $1000 to install them. Twelve hours of labor. I nearly fell down. I cannot see that this is complicated... just time consuming. Does anyone have instructions as to how to remove the cover and install new gaskets? Is this something that requires special tools? I also have the "Restricted Performance" message due to a lean running condition. All of the air intake parts have been replaced and tightened, but the message continues. Is it possible that the timing chain gasket can contribute to a lean running condition? Thanks! Greg
