Talking 2005 XJR Trans Fault Mystery solved

Guy guys, last time I posted in February I was having various codes issues , restricted performance and trans fault error codes after putting the pedal to the metal. The car had seem to have missed a shift or miss fired. I believed I did some serious damaged to the trans because at a stop light the trans was trying to shift with hard slams and going into a neutral during acceleration. I took it to a trans shop and they didn't know if it was the trans or the ECU. So I ended up taking it to the dealer and all they told me is it needed a new trans. Both shops told me 3 -7K to repair. After picking it up from the dealer and driving it to work I notice the engine was miss firing, an at this time all kinds of restricted performance, Trans fault codes reappeared. I Ended up taking it to my local Jaguar independent shop that worked on my car before. He stated that he had a bulletin that talked about bad ign coils will cause these symptoms, sure enough a few hours later, two coils and two plugs and the car drives like a dream.I was ready to dump it and buy a new car couldn't believe this is all it was. $531.00 out the door.

In the past other people have reported transmission faults due to engine misfiring.

Glad you got it fixed.

It's because to provide smooth shifts etc the trans & engine co-operate. Can't do it right if there's an engine issue.

Hooray for your indy and boo for the dealers.
