Heater Core Blocked
For what it's worth...I had exactly the problem (that many others have had) on my previous XJ way back when. Rather then jump to replacement, I removed thermostat and then ran this stuff through it for a day, then seriously both forward and backflushed it. If only I had taken pics of the crud that came out! I believe a quick search of posts will reveal a very good forward/back flush procedure, but at least I can vouch for the use of this stuff. Best of luck...

I don't have this problem.....yet, but..
On my RHD car, there are two pipes on the left side of the firewall that must connect to the heater matrix. Would it be possible to connect a pump and a loop of pipe to circulate cleaning solution to these two pipes and so pump it through the matrix continuously? This would avoid having to disturb the main engine cooling system and contents. With the ignition on but the engine not running, would selecting a high heat on the controls open the heater valve?
Is there a procedure in the sticky posts? I forgot to look.
