I downloaded the rapid files, extracted them with winrar and used nero 9 to burn them onto a Memorex DVD-DL at 2.4x speed. When I put the completed disc in my nav dvd player, the screen said No map data disc. please help

Sorry to hear that. Maybe the disc is bad or the disc burner? I did mine on a MacBook and so far 0 problems. Anyone you know with a Mac?

I suspect it is something to do with the format you wrote it in. I have just received a copy of a Jaguar nav disc and it came up with the same error. I copied the contents to my PC then used my own DVD software to create a new DVD and it works fine.

I can't tell you what the correct settings should be but I use Roxio Creator basic and it works with the default settings. If it makes you feel any better there are loads of threads on the net with people having the same problem

Thanks, I'll try Roxy and see what happens. I read a thread earlier where someone had success using Nero 9 so I that's why I used it first. I've got Roxy on my computer so I'll give it a try this weekend. DId you burn the disc as a DVD image file, ROM or data disc????

I just selected Data then Data Disc, copied the files in to the window then clicked on Record. The only setup options I can see are:

Type - Track at once open
Mode - Mode 1
File System - ISO + Joliet

Burnt discs with Burnaware, Roxy and Nero 9. No success. Nav screen reads "Installed disc is not a MAP DVD". I must be doing something wrong. I downloaded all 17 .rar files and saved to my documents. I have WINRAR software on my computer. When I clicked on the firt file (part 01), Winrar extraced it along with all 17 parts for a total of 8,010,209KB. I then copy and pasted this file into the disc burning software, selected dvd data disc, selected the slowest burn speed 2.4x and clicked BURN. The disc is then created and verified. I put in the the car NAV DVD player and nothing. I've already gone thru 10 DVD DL discs using both memorex and virbatem brand disc. Any suggestions???? I've got like 5 blank disc left before I say screw it and buy the disc from Jaguar.

What actually gets extracted from the rar achive? If it is just one file e.g. a .ISO file then that is a backup image of a DVD rather than the individual files from the DVD so you would need to use a different option. In Roxio you would choose:

Copy > Burn Image

Browse to find the .iso file then click on the red burn image button.

If it isn't a .iso you may need other software that understands the format.

You need a dual layer disc and burner.

OK.. let me get this straight..
I extract all the .rar files to a DVD-DL disc.
I burn on the slowest speed, with a book setting to DVD-ROM.
I replace my old disc with this new version.
I allow the firmware to update. This may take up to 5 minutes.
My nav will continue to work.

I want to verify that I won't need to visit the dealership and have them do anything. Thanks.

oh and someone should upload those files to a better server, one that doesnt throw so many hurdles in front of you to download. If I can ever make it to downloading all of them I think I might give it a shot...
