2006 Porfolio totaled. Need help with value

@portfolio. Struck out with Manheim St Louis. They have no way of finding a vin from an auction over a year ago (and again why is your insurance company using a comp from 15 months ago?). If we had the vin they may be able to find it but the person I was talking to said no way to find anything without it.
Sorry

Wow. Based on a Jaguar dealer in Houston that provided the Manheim auction sale to them as a reference, they claimed that it was a sale in Jan or Feb of THIS year. So, you've found no actual 2006 Portfolio's that sold in STL this year. Odd. Thank You for all of your efforts.
I've taken a different route this week and have sent an an appraiser to do a Total Loss Appraisal on the car. He will take over negotiations with my insurance company and has appraised another Portfolio in the recent past (pristine and not wrecked). My only real concern is that I maintained my vehicle perfectly, kept it in the garage, and detailed (or had it detailed) on a regular basis... but what the appraiser will see is a car that has been rear ended and sat outside now for over two months, probably has accumulated dust on the interior, and has had the trunk pried open by the insurance appraiser. I really don't know what else may have happened to it while it sat in storage waiting for this saga to end. The sort of appraisal that I have requested should see through all of that though.
This has been a sad lesson in how not to insure a limited production car with a standard, albeit full coverage, insurance policy.

Yup the St Louis sale was in April 2013, 15 months ago (these are rare cars). Don't forget at the end to ask what it will take for you to keep the car. They may only deduct a couple grand from your final settlement and I am sure if you didn't want to deal with it there are many members here (myself included) that would be willing to buy the car as it is. Those parts are what makes it rare and when you consider you could pretty much turn a super v8 into a Portfolio clone with your car as a donor parts car.... Just sayin... Save it from the crusher!!!
Or if you have the space, dissassemble it yourself and have fun and profit on Fleabay!! I bet you could get $10k in parts off it. The motor, the supercharger, the tranny, the seats, the wheels, the wood, the headliner, the front fenders and vents... Makes my head spin. You let a wrecker take that car and you are leaving a ton of money on the table.

Please don't ask what the price was....it would make other owners jump off a bridge but this owner has a Cheshire Cat grin on his face
To quote the famous Kazahkstan reporter, Borat......"IT NICE"
PS: Like everything in life, it is for sale as well.

If you are still looking for a 2006 Super 8 Portfolio, mine is for sale
This is the 2006 Super 8 Portfolio in black cherry from Wickstrom in Chicago. It is currently enjoying global warming weather in San Diego. It is marvelous and just got new brakes and rotors all around (R1 Concepts slotted rotors w/ ceramic low dust pads in rear). Contact me if you are interested. It is always for sale but the longer it takes to sell.....the happier I am

Well, I'm in the market for an XJ at the moment, preferably a 06/09 Portfolio and just came across this.
Jaguar XJ8 Super V8 Portfolio | eBay
I believe your car is back from the dead. And listed as only minor rear end damage. I found pics of the car after it was totaled at the auction sites.
AutoGeria - Vehicle
Minor damage my rear end! Price may be cheap, but not cheap enough. So, who wants to go for it!

Wow. I didn't know that the Portfolios came with normal SV8 trim and color options, and a Turbo too!
In fact, during my search for a SV8 Portfolio there seem to be lots of 09 Portfolios that are for some reason identical to base model XJ8's, right up to the NA V8. I guess some people hope that buyers don't know anything.

Bought at $8769 selling at $21,000 Who's in for that?

Hmm. Now I'm no expert on aluminum repair work, but I would think that repairing all that damage would be more than about $12K (assuming he wants to just break even). Someone correct me if I'm wrong please, but I get the feeling some corners may have been cut to make it look all pretty.
But what do I know anyway. I'm not an aluminum repair facility!

That is definitely my old Portfolio. Estimate to have it repaired was $32,000. If sold for parts then I can attest that all undamaged parts are very good. Engine ran excellent, etc. I amazed to see it. The odd thing is, I removed the centercaps as a souvenir, but they are still there in the pic, so I think this pic might be of the car back in July or so. The suspension had been serviced and some components replaced, but it was on the ground when I last saw it in late Aug. The key to the entire value of the car was to go through my own insurance, although it was the other driver at fault, and get an independent appraisal of the car. This forced my insurance company to get their own appraisal (by law) and the tow appraisers negotiated back and forth to arrive at a true value. Fortunately for me, my appraiser was old friends with their appraiser and was actually his mentor in the business twenty years earlier. After three months of presenting volumes of evidence to both my insurance the other driver's insurance, and getting nowhere, it came down to my appraisal and the check was in my hands within 48 hours.
