2006 XJ8 - battery connections reversed!
inadvertantly the battery was connected incorrectly, which resulted in three burnt fuses, now nothing happens, fuses replaced still nothing if I connect another battery under the hood the engine starts display says no acl no trac
need help to figure this out. as soon as I disconnect the battery the engine stops.

disconnecting the battery with the engine running would not be something I would ever like to do with the delicate electronics these Jags have.
I would disconnect the battery, check all fuses, do the system reset by touching the negative and positive cables together for a minute, then reconnect the battery using the correct battery connection procedure. Described in the workshop manual.

Be prepared to have to replace the alternator; there are rectifying diodes in it that prevent reverse current going through it but by reversing the battery polarity they will act like a complete short circuit between the battery terminals; that's almost certainly what blew the fuses (I'm guessing they may have been the 'mega-fuses'). The diodes themselves and the charge control circuits within the alternator will almost certainly have gone 'phut'.
As to all the control circuits etc in the various boxes and stuff in the car, you may be lucky, they may have reverse-polarity protection.
