Default 2006 XJ8L transmission does not shift properly

My 2006 XJ8L when I start from stop shifts into low but will not up shift as I speed up. If I go to about 15 mph and move shift lever to neutral and back to drive it shifts ok and work ok until I stop again. Any idea what is wrong?

Thanks,
Al

Al,

I've moved your question from General Tech Help to X350 forum. Members here with the same model will be able to help.

yikes! First, I would check the fluid level.

If you can't do that yourself, take it to a dealer or 'reputable' transmission shop who has worked on ZF transmissions before. If the fluid is good, you need to have it looked at by a dealer tech...especially if there is no fault codes and CEL showing.

You may have a valve body issue, i've heard of and had one on my xk8. Comparing to a transmission rebuild, the valve body isn't a huge expense...$400-$800 parts cost, depending on your rebuilt source.
