2006 XJR Source For Headliner Material?
I am going to have to change my sagging headliner.
Anyone know a source for the headliner material that matches Jaguar trim codes?
On my 87 XJ6 I took the headliner out through the left rear door after taking out the rear seat.
Anyone done a change on an X-350? Was it removed out the rear door?

I have removed lining out back door, removed one front seat and rear lower seat to give a little extra room, but still had a slight fold down the center i the front. No noticeable effect after recovering and reinstalling.
Do make sure you take particular note of where it wraps around the edge for the B pillar and how to trim for the sun roof. Also, you have to remove the plastic sun roof handle, and melt the plastic stakes back in afterwards.
I sourced from Headliner Fabric and Kits and found a good match. I initially bought the sampler board, but you can also go to the local uphosterer and sample.
NOTE: One issue I have found is that most linings are 3/16", but original is 1/8" I think as the sun roof slider can be a bit tight afterwards.
Do make sure you take particular note of where it wraps around the edge for the B pillar and how to trim for the sun roof. Also, you have to remove the plastic sun roof handle, and melt the plastic stakes back in afterwards.

I sourced my headliner material ,Jaguar XJR Type Auto Headliner Material Fabric 1/8" Foam Back - Lt Tan 120", from Headliner Magic on Ebay and was very pleased indeed with the product.
I took out the entire rear seat and unbolted the rhs front seat but left it inside the car.
I had to bend the headliner only slightly to remove it from the the right rear door. Steering wheel dictates right rear door.
I used Polymat high temp glue to attach the new headliner.
I also did the sunroof slider.
Putting on the new headliner is quite tricky if you do it on your own. Much better if two people do it.
Just remembered.
I also removed all handles, sunvisors etc and let the headliner hang by wires at all 4 corners and used foam padding to support the sunroof assembly as I removed it. Made it much easier to remove this time.
Originally I tried to fix the sunroof slider without taking the whole assembly out and ended up braking the slider mechanism.
The sunroof somehow got wet and within a few days the rear headliner sagged. So I had to take it all out anyway!
So in the last few days had to lower the headliner but not take it out to repair the slider assembly.
Putting back the torx screws in the glass sunroof frame was much more difficult this time around for some reason.
Now all done and lesson learned.

I ordered a headliner sample card from www.yourautotrim.com and found that PH1853 Smoke was a very close match for trim code LHJ for my 2006 XJR.
I ordered a 2 yard kit.

So, I reviewed the headliner removal procedure (76.64.01) from the Jaguar Heritage Factory Service manual. All was well until step 23 for removal from short wheelbase cars. These clowns called factory engineers actually expect that the headliner will be removed through the rear window opening after taking out the glass. Long wheelbase cars remove the headliner through the left rear door opening.

Regardless, I plan to remove the headliner out the left rear door one way or another. I am not removing the rear glass to slide the card out the rear window opening.

You will bend it much more if you choose the left rear door because the steering wheel will not let you "angle" the headliner to get enough clearance.
Going out the right rear door gives you a much better angle as you will be able to use the widest open distance of the rear door top left to bottom right of the door frame. So long as the rear seat is out and the passenger seat is out of the way.

I am referring to left hand drive cars.
One needs to have the right rear of the headliner come out at the bottom of the right rear door and the left rear of the headliner out diagonally at top of the rear door.
In this position the front left of the headliner is over the steering wheel with the front right angled down over where the front passenger seat would have been.
Assuming you moved the front passenger seat.
The most difficult part of replacing the headliner is firstly cleaning off the old stuck on foam backing and then properly placing the new material on the thoroughly cleaned fibre backing.
The glue sticks quickly with little time to correct mistakes and you really need two people to apply the new headliner. Getting it to go into all the "dips" is what makes it tricky on your own.
