I have a dead battery. key does not unlock the trunk. The key seems to be turning something but the lid will not open. I cannot find a battery terminal in the engine compartment to put a charger on. I have tried to charge it thru the cigaret lighter out-let, but that does not seem to get any juice to the system. anybody have a clue where the hot lead is on this model car?

The mechanical boot/trunk lock can become very stiff because it isn't part of the electrical release mechanism and hence never normally moves ... so it helps to lean down hard on the boot lid to minimise the friction in the mechanism when you try to turn the key.

 

There is a keyhole under the button in the plate area to put your key in. that will open it.

 

hmm... yes, it should... but... lack of use can prevent it doing so.
