2007 VDP electronic parking brake stuck on

It happened to my X350 once. Was told that disconnecting the battery for say 15 minutes would clear the code and have everything reset, and upon power re-connection, follow the instructions on the instrument cluster (pull and release the parking brake 5 times), and the parking brake would return normal. It didn't work in my case. I towed my car to my workshop and the mechanic jacked up the car and unplugged the parking brake motor near the differential. Upon re-connection, the instructions on the instrument cluster emerged and all returned to normal. It has not failed again since (fingers-crossed). The parking brake motor is a very expensive part, used or new. I used to drive a manual car so had a habit of engaging the parking brake very often, at every stop and traffic lights - its frequent use might wear it down prematurely.

Unplug the bottom connection of the epb module in the trunk. There should be four connections to that connector. One is green with white and another orange with white. Run leads to the battery posts to those two connections briefly. Reverse polarity to rub epb in opposite direction i.e. release or engage.
