Default 2007 xj8L key transponder

Just bought 07 xj8L but only came with 1 key. For obvious reasons I’m looking to acquire two more key systems for back up. I understand I can buy aftermarket key with a chip and maybe have dealer program that key. although I am thinking they may not want to program aftermarket key and stick me with one of their keys for a much higher cost of course. So my question is, is this the correct key and chip code, Fo21 key and chip 4d60? Anyone know if this is correct?
Thank you, Rich

I had only one fob when I bought my 2006 XJR used. You will need to take it to a dealer, buy a fob and have the computer programmed to read the original and new key fob.

Key part alone is priced @ $212.50
Plus the other half, with the transponders, or buttons, on it.
With my shop discount, it was still $170, for the key portion.

That's what I show as list, and 10% off of list, which is the normal Jag club / military / first responder discount I do. Nothing particularly special.
Even at list plus programming ($50?) there's still a lot of ground to be made up to get to $640.

Keep your eye on Flea bay, found a good deals on used ones.
Locksmith was selling a group, all guaranteed to work, with battery's.
But they all needed the metal key portion part, replaced first.

Technical Bulletin XJ501-20 may be what you are looking for.

I bought a key from ebay including a blank metal portion, remote and transponder. Cost about 35 Euro
Got the key section cut by a locksmith for 20/30 Euro and my local indie jag guy programmed this and my existing key transponder to the car using the jag software, took him around 15 minutes and I gave him about 20 Euro. If you only have one key you have to wipe the existing one and re-program the transponder in both.
You can program the remotes yourself very easily
No need to pay a dealer those crazy prices.

When you have two keys programmed, that function in your ignition.
You can then program additional keys yourself.
It's as easy, & as fast, as the remotes are, to do.

I will get the breakdown on my charges tomorrow morning. I am also first responder so I’ll ask for a discount as well.
Not sure I’m understanding the bulletin from toyman1001, do you program “each key” through all steps 1-7? Start over from step 1-7 for each key? The reason I ask is because there is a notation “ steps 4-6 erases transponders memory? Thank you. Forgot to mention, I’m in the Tucson area and as I stated earlier I can not find a locksmith to cut a 3rd key from eBay?

All keys present for steps 1 - 4. Step 5 applies to each fob in sequence then do steps 6 and 7.
