2008 XJ8L Bluetooth question
Hoping someone can shed some light on this. I have searched this forum and read some great threads about factory bluetooth connectivity. My XJ is a 2008 and it already had the upgraded module (7W93-10D893-AB). I realize the technology from 2008 models is not the same as newer cars we have today. My question is more about the function of the factory bluetooth. I have an iPhone 15 and it connects no problem. Calls are clear, callers say my voice is clear, it interrupts the radio when a call comes in like it should, all good, works great. The issue I'm having is if I have passengers in the car and want to take my call off of bluetooth. When I hit the button on my phone to switch the call back to the phone it will do so for maybe a second or two, but then automatically switches back to the bluetooth. It won't let me keep the call on the iPhone. I wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this and knows of a fix. I don't know if my bluetooth module has gone bad or if that's just how bluetooth functioned in 2008. Thanks for any info anyone may have.

I had the same issue with an '06 with BT. It would refuse to let go of the phone even with the ignition turned off after it had been linked during a drive. I could not use my phone with regular audio within BT range of the car. I would routinely, at a particular stop, turn off the phone and restart it to break the link and enable a call I had to make.

I agree the bluetooth does not want to "let go" as you said, so the workarounds are "can I call you right back" and switch it off, or exit the car and walk away till the connection drops, neither is a very good option. I have an android phone as well, on that you can just turn off bluetooth on the screen, not at the "phone" setting, and the call will revert to the phone itself. It doesn't happen to me enough times to do anything more than that.

Basically, IF/AS/WHEN Bluetooth is optioned ON?
It tries - and tries as hard as it can do - to keep the link active.. and re-establish it if interrupted.
Why would it NOT?
You want it to do otherwise, either de-activate Bluetooth 'outright' - or delete the particular "pairing".
Active choice, either way, no 'magic' nor "AI" to it.
"Distance" may not do it.
The L320 and Kyocera flip can stay connected from driveway to living room.. about 30 feet and one layer of brick veneer exterior wall.
All that aside, I don't see a "problem" here?
If I want to NOT have all-hands hear the distant party? All I do is hit the "speaker' button to toggle between motorcar speaker and cellular device's earphones.
The Bluetooth LINK stays up. No NEED to de-activate that part.
