When I press and hold the unlock button on my key fob all windows go down and the sunroof opens. When I press and hold the lock button on my key fob all of the above are supposed to close. Well mine does not. Does anyone know of that reason?

My 04 XJ8 works as you described above. I have read here that you can take it to dealer to get the lock/close window feature activated ($$). I plan on doing that when I take mine in next for something I cannot do myself.

My '04 works just as you describe Chuck. The manual calls it "Global Opening".

 

Does it have "Global Closing"?

 

It can. Mine doesn't do it either. A dealer will have to program this feature for you. $$$$$$

 

Mine works the same way. You can Globally close with the key in the drivers door and hold it at the lock position or holding the central locking switch on the dash.

Great thanks Drew. I did not know it was an option that the dealer has to do but will look into it and report back.

 

There are a ton of options you can change on these cars. If you are going to pay for the dealership to change something make sure they let you go through all the options. A few I could remember are: day time running lights, turn off the folding mirrors, auto dip of the driver and passenger mirror when the vehicle is in Reverse, i think the auto lock feature too. I'm sure there is even more options.

 

Does anyone know where I might find a list of these options?
