2009 jaguar XF dash shows trunk open but its closed

2009 jaguar XF dash shows trunk open but its closed . would i need to buy a new trunk harness or latch ? the trunk closes all the way but the car dash shows that the trunk is still open .

If the car was in a previous crash that would happen or because it was an early xf it could just be a beginning problem
