Default 6 speed transmision serviced

Today I had the 6 speed transmission in my XJ8 X350 serviced car has done 163,600 K,s did a full flush guys I use are the only ones on the Gold Coast with the machine to flush all the fluid used them on the Mercedes gearbox in my wife's Jeep

New pan as the gasket is built into the pan from what i was told car had a full dealer history and judging by the oil its original needless to say I am happy now that it has been done will be getting done every 40,000 from now on

I did notice it was shifting nicer but that could be in my mind as well LOL

It should not be just in your mind, with the new fluid it should actually be shifting better !

Its not in my mind drove it up to my mums today a good 300k round trip shift was lovely dam I like that 6 speed

Like my XJRI6 I would love to change the diff ratios don't like it dropping back to 5th at the slightest hill and 1900rpm at 110 is tall anyone know what the standard ratio is on a X350 XJ8 is

Good Idea to replace the other fluids that get missed as well
Power steer, brakes and S/C if fitted but most importantly do the brake fluid flush

Cheers

2.87:1 but there is no chance to change it, have a look for my thread in the General Tech section "change diff ratio with IDS"

Doesn't have a S/C but they and a diff oil change are on the to do list brakes will be new rotors and pads they are old and the pads on it make the wheels black going to see if I can get some Akebonos for it
Love them on my XJR6

Hi Cambo

I have already read most of your posts and did look at the diff ratio post you did

I changed the ratio in my XJR6 made the car faster than any of the other mods only went from 3.31 ratio to 3.54 though

I have seen more higher speeds than with the original 3.31 ratio

And though if I could get my hands on a set of 3.06 gears for the X350N/A it shouldn't mess the car setting up to much

Not sure with the X350 still taking it all in

I have a brand-new, in-the-box 3.58:1 ring & pinion sitting in my garage right now. Was going to put them in at the same time as the Quaife LSD, but as you saw from the other threads I hit the wall regarding reprogramming the TCM.

I haven't given up on the idea, will pick it up again once things have settled down a bit here, still sorting through boxes in the new place, and the XJR won't land for a few weeks yet.

I am not sure in Sydney but up here on the Gold coast I know the head guy at chiptorque really well he has done some cars for me in the past and I was going to ask him to look at my new XJ8 when I get round to it
it should be possible to reprogram the TCM module I know with the XJR6 the speedo was driven by the left rear wheel abs sensor so no need to do any mods and as I was going from 3.24 to a 3.54 it was only a small rise in gearing actually 400 rpm on the tacho but that 400 rpm moved the cruise speed to the bottom of the torque curve the throttle response was like chalk and cheese

Your car is a S/C is it not the 3.54 tail gear would probbaly lift it 750 to 800 rpm it will be smack bang in the torque curve I would like to drive that

I spent a hideous amount on a full headers to tail system with 200cell cats on my XJR6 plus Johnson inter-cooler pump and larger inter-cooler radiator as well as cold air induction not to mention new O2 sensors injectors air flow meter and coils and every sensor as well drove it on Monday and yes its fast but the X350 is a different creature
being a N/A version its slower and not as aggressive so when I am behind morons that drive 40 bellow the speed limit and in the right lane daydreaming I find I am not as aggressive
When I drive the XJR6 I start as dr Jekyll but by the first corner I am Mr Hyde

The X350 is not that kind of car its a cruiser

I have my X pack Capri for street racing its got 380HP in a 850KG package that's why I like the X350 cant have 2 race cars for the street LOL

Cambo keep us up to date a S/C X350 with 3.54 tail gears will be a wicked creature and like I said with my XJR6 I have seen more higher speeds after the diff gearing change than before best bang for buck I ever did on the XJR6
