ACC question

ACC question
I have an '04 XJR that was wercked in the front end before I bought it. The ACC box was either damaged or taken. My first question is, is there anyway to bypass the ACC and have regular cruise? Second question is with the box missing what other affects does it have on the car? It seems as though only the front speakers are working. My Indy thinks this is due to the fact that the box is missing? Any help would greatly be appreciated.

Have you tried to source a used ACC Box/Module? I think it would be next to impossible to bypass the system to work like a conventional cruise control.
Dont know about the stereo issues, I would start by looking at the wiring diagram and making sure you have all the components that make the system work still on the car.

Hi mvasko,
The ACC on our '04 has not worked since we purchased the car, and due to lots of more urgent car work on the six vehicles I personally care for, I've only been able to focus on diagnosing the ACC problem a few limited times. One thing I have tried is to disconnect the ACC module and then use the JLR SDD computer diagnostics system to re-set the car for normal cruise operation, but so far I have not figured out how to do that. SDD tells me the car configuration will not allow normal cruise to be set as the default, and that the initial vehicle configuration would have to be changed, but I haven't figured out how to change the intial vehicle configuration (even with the ACC module disconnected, SDD still knows our car has ACC). However, I recall reading somewhere, possibly on this forum, that the ACC could be disabled and standard cruise re-enabled. Have you searched this forum, Jag-Lovers and the other Jaguar forums?
Regarding your audio system, the ACC is a completely separate system and it doesn't seem possible that the missing ACC module would have any effect on your audio system. It's more likely a problem in the wiring. As Woodford Jag suggested, some time spent studying the Electrical Guide might turn up some clues as to where to look for the problem. If the download link for the Electrical Guide is still down in the X350 'HOW TO' quick links, send me a private message with your email address and I'll send you the Electrical Guide.
Cheers,
Don
