Adaptive cruise

Adaptive cruise
My adaptive cruise is not working. When it is cold outside I get a cruise not available code. When warmer the code disappears, but I still cannot engage the cruise control.
When code is not present the driver alert system works as intended. This indicate to me that there is nothing wrong with the radar part of the system.
Today I scanned the car for codes and following code is present; p1696 speed control input switch fault- not cancel. Adaptive speed control can link adaptive speed control fail.
Any suggestions to what is wrong. What and where is the speed control input switch?
Suggestions are welcome.

An absolutely spectacular guide on how to inspect and repair your ACC, from the same guy who created JagDroid:

Thanks for advice.
I will try the brake pedal switch. Bought a spare one.
I do not think it is anything wrong with the radar itself as the forward allert system works fine. The buttons on the steering wheel also seem to work as I can atleast adjust the distance in the forward alert system.
