Phil Brody, I get the impression that you are a parts picker of the highest order. I used to find and broker used auto parts. Kudos to you for finding the part and then pulling the trigger when you found something that seemed close.

I am relying on my skill set to make XJ ownership viable for me. Without such tactics, I can't afford to play.

It depends, yours, I think, is early enough to be self-contained. That would make it ACC2. To clarify the situation. ACC1 and ACC2 had a single module fitted to the front of the vehicle. This module had both the electronics and the radar scanner inside it. When ACC3 was introduced the electronics were fitted in a separate module so that the module fitted to the front of the car houses only the radar scanner. ACC3 was introduced at the following VINs:

S-TYPE N00465
XK A39959
XJ [X350] All long wheel base vehicles are fitted with ACC3. The earliest Vin is G29365; however there was a mixed condition up until G34523 when all of the X350's were fitted with ACC3. For vehicle built between G29365 and G34522 you will need to check the part number on the electronic control module to ensure that you get the correct part. Also the connection on the ACC3 module is smaller than that fitted to an ACC2 module.

I believe the alignment initiated by IDS is a wider, more aggressive zeroing in, but that it is always narrowly fine tuning its alignment. I'm just not positive.

Cheers,

Default If I ever find the ACC module . . .

Can I just plug it in myself to ensure it works before going to the dealer for alignment?

Anyone have a lead on one of these? I have contacted dozens of used parts suppliers.

I would think so, placing it in the opening propped up by a screwdriver worked for me, since it is back on the network.
I did have to do quite a bit of hunting to find one. Unfortunately,I found many yards don't inventory these and crush them with the car, and I had to describe where they are located to all, but there are a number of XJR and XJ8's ending up at salvage auctions. Ridesaefly.com can reveal vins of potential donors. I believe all the XJR had the units installed, XJ8's as an option. Curiously, my unit had a part no. 2w93-9aa12-bd which there are about 4 google pages of chatter on, yet the replacement part I received 2w939aa12-be there is nothing. Perhaps they fixed the deficiency with the former high failure rate part, or at least I can hope.
And thanks again Steve for all your info !

Question ACC Module location 04 XJR

My 04 XJR has allegedly had the ACC unit replaced before I bought the car. But, it brakes for bridges, some, not all. Can't maintain a good distance, falls back then accelerates hard, then jams on the brakes. Has no one figured out how to defeat these blasted things so just the plain old cruise works? Where is the unit actually located so I can be sure its not blocked and aimed properly?

Tx,
Dale

The only odd thing was that the number on my old unit was 2W93-9AA12-BD and the new one was 2W93-9AA12-BE I wonder what the difference is, or could this have been already replaced on the boneyard car ?
Phil have 2003 XKR needing ACC unit. Can you give any advice on where to look?

Bryn,

There is a European junkyard in central Indiana called Brickyard Autoparts. Give them a call at 317-831-2627.

Funny Bryn, I have a 70 e type too. Agreed it's definitely more straightforward not having to talk to modules. $300 is a great price if it works. I had many promises of shipment that didn't pan out. I think you have to pay some attention to VIN #'s as there seems to have have been a number of revisions on these but it appears there is some interchangeability. Good Luck

Phil,

the dealer was good enough to confirm part number for me so i am hoping it all works. The guys at Quality Autoparts sound profesional so will see when i get the part. The Jag dealer has offered to install and align.

Must admit that i preffer driving the E, the R is much better all round but there is something about that torquey, longlegged feel about the E.

I had 2 or 3 of those experiences, always when it was too good to believe.
These have to start ending up in the yards soon, unfortunately most parter's
don't know what they are and crush them with the car. I was also going to use ridesafely.com to track
a car from auction to yard to see if I could find one but got lucky just
before.

Used and Salvage Auction for 2004 JAGUAR XJR | VIN: SAJEA73B74TG09832&
What's nice is you enter specific years and also see vin's to check
compatibility. I did register as it was free and no big deal.

Sorry to reserect this thread but my ACC has just gone bad and I am now in the same boat as all previous and I am not paying $6000+ for repair so my otherwise mechanically sound XJR could end up a parts car! I have contacts in the UK and I am traveling there in the next few weeks. Does anyone know where I may find one or any fixes that have panned out to get round this issue?

Robert

Most x350 parts for sale on e bay uk are from JoJags they seem to break lots of x350's.

I believe they are in the Liverpool area
