Default Adaptive Cruise Radar Module Pin Rebuild

Hello all. So as some of you may know, I was having issues with my adaptive cruise not working on my SV8. After reading the codes, it pointed to the radar sensor not transmitting data to the ACC module. Following this, I checked all the wiring and connections as per the workshop manual, still no go. So, I removed the module, ready to get another one when I decided to take it apart (if it's already broken, I can't break it again!). I knew that there was some company out there that used to rebuild these so I figured why not give it a try. When I took it apart, I noticed that two of the five pins coming off the circuit board had completely corroded to dust. Everything else looked perfect. So, I decided to try and just replace those pins and see if everything worked. Well guess what, it worked. Now I have my ACC back and all it cost was some time and spare metal pieces! Figured I would add this info to the knowledge base out there as there seems to be more and more ACC issues popping up with time. Some pics below.

This is the radar sensor module with the connector removed. You can see where the pins from the plug connect with the circuit board (white part). In my case, the two end ones had fallen apart and half were stuck in there. I had to pull them out.

Just anther angle from the top with the black cover removed looking down to the white connector mentioned above.

Lastly, this is my repaired connector. You can see that two new pins have been soldered on (not the neatest job I must say, but nobody can see it!). This was then put back into the white connector on the circuit board.

After this I put it all back together (loosely), plugged in the radar and tested it and everything worked again. Then I properly put it all back together and sealed it up nice and tight to prevent any future water ingress and therefore (hopefully) corrosion. Based on the design, there is only a small, less than sufficient, rubber o-ring that is supposed to seal between the plug (black one I showed) and the box itself (you can see it in the last pic). Mine was still there, but not really doing anything. I would highly recommend to anyone with ACC to get in there and put some silicone or RTV sealant or whatever around the base of the connector on the radar box to prevent future issues.

Now, I realize that many of the threads I read over prior to this in trying to figure out my problem involved the ACC system with the radar and control module all in on (2004 models), but if yours isn't working I would say it's definitely worth the time to take yours off, remove the black connector and see what shape your pins are in. I bet this is the cause of many failures and can be repaired with a little time and a soldering iron!

Hope this helps anyone out there having issues and maybe it'll solve your problem too.
