Add bluetooth to 2004xj8
2004 XJ8 with the Alpine system. I have Nav & CDC but no phone module. I have read the forums about using 7W93-10D893-AB to replace the phone module.
Will my car have the wiring & fiber optic connector I need just sitting there or is the harness and fiber optics unique depending on how many modules you have?

Tom;
The TSB Bob attached will be invaluable if you decide you need purchase the D2B cable (and other accessories) from a dealer. You could also search the internet with these pn's.
I installed Bluetooth, and then at a later time VACM on my 04 XJR. Here was my experience: The electrical connectors for both (BT & VACM) were already on the loom but taped to the loom. I had to identify these connectors and then free them from the loom. If memory serves me correctly I was thinking there may have been two connections to the BT module. For the optical (D2B network) connection I traced the entire loop and got lucky.... there was an unused branch with a loop-around cap on it. I used this for the BT and everything worked great.
When I added the VACM I had to purchase another D2B 'branch' and then connect it to the existing D2C loop. Pay attention not to bypass any other appliances when you add the new branch and everything should work fine. Both BT and VACM were 'Plug and Play' first time success for me.
Best Regards, William

Another perhaps lesser complicated option is a Tranzit Blue receiver in line with the radio antenna. The kit comes with a mircrophone whose wire you hide in the trim. I did mine with the kit and it works great and has good fidelity for telephone and Bluetooth music. I did have to add an on/off swith since it does interfere with the radio signal sometimes. You do need the Jaguar/Euro antenna adapter found on eBay. Just a thought.
