I have also been looking into getting another 2 keys made.
Check this guy out:
http://www.brandtlocksmiths.com/index.html
I spoke with him on the phone yesterday.
A key without the remote functions is $43
From what I've been able to surmise (jump in here if you guys know different) is in order for you to be able to program your own keys you must have 2 of them that are already programed to start with. (not talking about programing the remote locking but the key chip transponder).
Even if you have to pay a dealer $125 to program them you could still find the key on ebay or through the internet.
This is just one of the reasons I detest going to a dealership.
Which dealership gave you those numbers?
You might be able to call other dealers and shop that around.
fwiw,
Chad

The key has two parts - the FOB (c2c35283) and the key (c2s31067) - you can get a FOB from eBay for about $20. The key you need to get new (www.parts.com) and then have it cut - the dealer charged me $10 for the cutting - you will need your vin and "proof of ownersip".

Both the remote and the key need to be programmed for the vehicle - you can do the remote yourself (search this forum for instructions).

Unfortunately the key needs to be programmed by the dealer - for me it was $90. If you hav two keys, you can code a third one youself, but with only one key, only the dealer can code the PATS.
