Air Escape...

Air Escape...
Ok, things are looking goodwith the front left strut that was replaced for the third time a month ago. Ihave noticed something else though and thought I'd put the question out herefor knowledgeable thoughts...
When the car has beensitting for a few hours and I unlock it, or, if it's been in the garage (whereit's not normally locked) overnight and I open the trunk or any door, thesuspension seems to let out a slight hiss. Similar to a truck letting out excessair pressure, but not as loud; kind of like it's settling in.
Anyone else experience this, and what could be the cause? Is it something I need to worry about on a problemthat is imminent, and will happen in the future with the suspension?

Hi Na5h,
I agree with Fraser - this is completely normal behavior.
My current understanding is that when you hear the exhaust valve open when you use your remote key fob or key to open a door or the trunk/boot, the Air Suspension Control Module (ASCM or ASM) enters "Preliminary Mode," and will attempt to level the vehicle, either by using stored pressure from the air reservoir or by opening the exhaust valve to relieve a little system pressure.
On the other hand, when you shut the engine off after driving the car, the ASCM will open the exhaust valve to backflow dry system air through the air dryer to partially reactivate the desiccant (and according to some members, to relieve a little system pressure to make it easier for the compressor to run the next time the engine is started, although I have not been able to confirm this in the Jaguar or Wabco documentation). The ASCM may also enter "Inclination Mode" and relieve some system pressure via the exhaust valve to help level the car if you've parked on an incline.
In either case, this seems to be completely normal behavior and as long as your system is operating properly otherwise, you shouldn't worry about it at all.
Cheers,
Don
