Default Air Filter Changing and MAF sensor

I found a thread on the cabin filter and think I am okay on that one for replacement. I couldn't find anything in the owners manual for it and I can't find anything on the engine air filter. When changing out the engine air filter do I need to disconnect the MAF sensor prior to opening up and removing the air filter. Any tricks I should know?
Thank you in advance,
Bill

Just looking at pictures of an N/A engine, it would be easier to remove the air filter if you removed the MAF sensor and the tube from the air box to the throttle body. After the tube is removed it makes it easier to access the filter. At least that's how I do it on my S-Type.

Good luck,

Mike

You do not have to remove anything, you can just open it from the fender side and pull out the old filter and replace with the new. However it will be a bit easier to remove the entire lid by first disconnecting the air duct. Your call.

One other note: assuming you remove the air duct tube, you can also clean out the throttle body. Just use some throttle body cleaner and some paper towels.

Default Air Filter Changing and MAF sensor

Thanks, Guys, the reason I asked about the MAF sensor on my 04 comes from my previoius Jag an 02 VDP. I didn't remove the MAF sensor on it first and got a code to show up triggered by removing the air filter and not first removing disconnecting the MAF sensor. I could not find anything in my owners
manual which made me think probably the same thing would happen if I remove the air cleaner first on my 94 without disconnecting the MAF sensor.
I'm going to order both filters through Coventry West I think.

They have the filters at Napa, but I found the dealer had better prices. Never got any codes for just changing the filter.

I remove the MAF harness and then the duct with the MAF in it when changing the filter so that I can clean out the airbox completely before putting in the new filter. It is difficult to lift up the airbox top far enough for cleaning otherwise.
